Grumpy about Grups

New York Magazine has apparently identified yet another marketing niche, Grups. It's basically a group of people my age who refuse to grow up. One of them even wrote a book called "Alternadad" or something like that.

Now, most of the music stuff I can agree with. It's not my fault that I like Interpol. I'm even proud of the fact I can say I saw them before they got too cool, at a street fair up on Belmont. But I would never, NEVER, wear a concert t-shirt with their name on it, just to prove I was cool.

And now I have to deal with the fact that Ladytron sells out the Metro in like 5 seconds! Excuse me, but where were all of you dupes 3-4 years ago? Same thing with Sleater Kinney, I check them out awhile ago and no one is there, last year in Ohio? Packed!! Now this damn Grups article even mentions the New Pornographers by NAME! Well thank god I got a chance to see them twice already, because next time they are at the Double Door I'll probably be sol for tickets. Now in principle I don't mind when my favorites become popular, if they are making money they will be able to continue making music for me to enjoy. I just wish there was some way for them to become insanely rich and popular without interfering with my ability to get tickets. And for a couple of weeks afterwards (at least) I have to look at all those concert t-shirts again!!

In fact, I can't understand the whole fake, vintage t-shirt thing. What exactly are you thinking when you buy a t-shirt at Urban Outfitters that you last wore in grade school? "Now that I'm dressing like everyone else, I'll finally be cool!"??? Come on people, if you are an adult, you should not own more sneakers then suits!!

Devil Dog

That patch of fur hanging out of the dogs mouth perfectly matches a new bald spot on the coat of my cat!
I couldn't believe it, my cat was lying there on my lap, without a care in the world. The dog trots over, takes one look at the cat, and then jumps up and bites him! I was shocked, and of course the cat took off, clawing me the entire way. I snapped these pictures while the dog was watching the cat run around the apartment, hissing. I don't think she looks sorry at all!

Expensive lesson learned, thanks Laron Arnold

So I sold my car to a friend named Laron Arnold. This was back in the beginning of April. To make a long story short, since he was a friend, I believed that he would take care of all the license and registration stuff since he said he knew someone who worked in the Sec. of States office. What he did however was nothing, nothing except get 7 tickets, and since he left my plates on the car, I have to pay for them all.
He doesn't return my calls, and I've asked some lawyer friends if it would be worth it to sue him. Still waiting on the answers.
See, just when I worry that I've become too cynical and paranoid, something like this happens to remind me that I'm not.

Dancing Feet

I was at dance class. There was a "local celebrity", a news anchor or something like that, taking dance lessons the same time I was. They are doing something like a "Dancing With the Stars" fundraiser later this year, so a lot of them are in to practice/learn how to dance.
She was in practicing the tango. She was wearing perfectly nice shoes. The weather outside was fine, sunny and dry.
So why o why did she take off her heels to put these on?

New Link

I've added yet another link! Isn't this internet stuff great?!?
Anyway, it's called jetsetblog, and the blog belongs to a lady calling herself Jet Set Laura, an international call girl. It costs $5,000, plus airfare, just for her to meet you the first time. Only after the meeting, and she decides you can be her client, do you get to spend $10,000/day to be with her! Now we have a chance to read about a lifestyle most of us will never encounter.

International Women's Day

I have recently discovered that there is such a thing called International Women's Day, and it's scheduled for March 8th. In honor of this, and at the recommendation of Gia, I'm going to try to link to a few women's blogs that I admire, or at least tell you about them. I would especially like to point out her list regarding what she looks for in a woman, if you are friend of mine I will probably be emailing the list to you soon, just in case you don't bother to read this.
There is of course Gawker, the single best reason I want to live in NYC.
Then there is Anina, and even though I think Gia picks on her, I find that I enjoy reading them both.
I'm also going to include Boing Boing, though only because Xeni is rather amazing.
Finally, there is Jane, a liberal who isn't afraid to speak up about the shortcomings of her side. Trust me, I know what that feels like, I mean they couldn't beat W? Sometimes even though you may hate the other guy, if your team is too stupid to win, you probably deserve to lose.

Well, there are 5. Once again, I would like to point out and thank Gia, who has the ability to drive me nuts, but I always read her stuff. Oh, and she is linked to a movie blog for Sunshine by Danny Boyle, the director of 28 Days Later. A sci fi film by Danny Boyle, catnip for me!
