Time and Opportunity

I've decided that the problem is not that you never have enough time, it's that your opportunities/responsibilities never follow a schedule. All of us, if we are honest, can remember the huge amounts of time we have wasted; sleeping, reading, TV, surfing the internet, etc., when we felt we had nothing to do.

Then suddenly, everything has to be done at once. For example, other then a few homework assignments, the school load was not that bad for the entire 10 weeks of the quarter. I also sent out resumes to numerous companies looking for work. No homework, no responses to the resumes.

Now, these last two weeks, there has been a group presentation, a final paper, two homework assignments, a job fair, an interview, and soon a meeting with a former CEO to discuss what do I really want to do with my life, since he knows a lot of people and likes me he wants to help. And I almost forgot dance lessons, a finance forum at school, a training lesson at the CME, 3 dinners with various friends and relatives you don't want to lose touch with, and a charity party.

If this had been spread out evenly over the last 10 weeks, it wouldn't have been a problem. But they weren't, they all came these last two weeks. I know, you think "You could have been studying for the finals, and working on the project, the entire time, since you knew they were coming." Well yeah, but who really does that?

I'm not really complaining or feeling sorry for myself, this happens to everyone, but it does get me thinking when I hear people complain they never have enough time. We all probably have enough time, it's the events of our life that never seem to happen when it's convenient for us.
